Hong Kong Woman Loses Over 2 Million Dollars in Cryptocurrency Investment Scam

A recent case in Hong Kong highlights the risks of online romance scams, with a woman losing over 2 million Hong Kong dollars to a 'cryptocurrency investment expert'.

The scammer initially contacted the victim on Instagram, quickly building a romantic relationship through comments on posts. The scammer then presented themselves as an investment expert, offering 'no-risk' investments that required the victim to transfer funds.

The victim was convinced to exchange USDT for cash at physical currency exchange stores and transfer it to the scammer's account through an e-wallet, with a total of seven transactions taking place. Once the funds were transferred, the scammer disappeared and went incommunicado.
