Thai Authorities Seize Over 300 Crypto Mining Machines in Raid
Thai authorities have launched a crackdown on illegal Bitcoin mining operations in five provinces of the northeastern region. The raids, which took place over the weekend, resulted in the seizure of more than 300 cryptocurrency mining machines.
The operation was carried out by the Ministry of Interior, the Provincial Electricity Authority, police and provincial administration officers, who inspected 14 locations in Ubon Ratchathani, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Roi Et and Maha Sarakham. The investigators found evidence of electricity meter tampering and illegal power connections used to run the equipment.
The total losses estimated at over 40 million baht include 5.38 million baht in penalties for electricity violations and about 35 million baht in unpaid electricity charges. Officials have collected evidence and filed complaints against those involved.
