World Cup Final Tickets Plummet as Blockchain Technology Holds Steady
The FIFA World Cup final ticket prices have seen a significant drop of around 28% in just one week, reaching as low as $7,149 and as high as $8,200 on secondary markets.
This sudden plunge was caused by the elimination of prominent host nations from the tournament and FIFA's decision to release approximately 1,200 Category 2 tickets directly at $7,380 each, undercutting the resale market.
Resellers who had been holding inventory at premium prices now find themselves competing against FIFA's own ticket office on platforms like StubHub and SeatGeek.
The use of blockchain technology in the World Cup ticketing system, which processes tens of thousands of on-chain transactions related to ticket ownership and transfers on the Avalanche network, has shown no meaningful decline despite the price drop. In fact, digital assets associated with the FIFA Blockchain have remained stable over the past month.
