Microsoft Warns of USB-Based Crypto Clipper Malware Spreading Through Windows Devices

Microsoft has issued a warning to Windows users about a malware strain called 'Crypto Clipper' that spreads through USB drives and steals cryptocurrency wallet credentials.

The malware, which has been active since February, targets high-value financial artifacts copied to the clipboard, including BIP39 seed phrases and private keys.

Once installed on a device, the malware monitors clipboard contents for wallet credentials and captures screenshots every ten seconds to provide additional context for attackers.

The 'worm component' of the malware allows it to propagate to removable media without relying on traditional installers or exposed IP-based infrastructure, making it harder to block with conventional perimeter defenses.
