Cryptocurrency Exchanges Enter Pre-IPO Market, Democratizing Access to Top Unicorns
The pre-IPO market is gaining traction among major cryptocurrency exchanges, with Binance, Bitget, and Gate taking different approaches to enter the arena.
Binance's strategy involves listing pre-IPO assets on its wallet platform, PreStocks, which tokenizes equity through a series of Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs). This model lowers the entry barrier for traditional private equity, enabling fragmented investment and attracting users. For Binance, this move provides an edge in the pre-IPO race by turning equity assets into standard assets for crypto users.
Bitget, on the other hand, has taken a compliant approach by launching its own platform, 'IPO Prime,' with SpaceX's preSPAX tokens being the first asset listed. Republic, the issuer of preSPAX, follows a debt financing model regulated under Regulation S. Bitget also introduced tiered subscription quotas and direct subscriptions using stablecoins USDT and USDGO.
Gate has chosen a derivatives-based pricing strategy, launching SpaceX's pre-IPO stock pre-market contract settled in USDT with 1-10x leverage. This product provides a real-time valuation reference for unicorns that have not yet gone public, allowing investors to price their value based on the company's latest developments or market sentiment.
