Crypto Market Dives as BTC Plummets to Two-Year Lows
The cryptocurrency market is experiencing a significant downturn, with Bitcoin plummeting to nearly two-year lows. The BTC price dropped to $58k, triggering a massive sell-off in the crypto market and wiping out over $1 billion in assets within a day.
According to CoinGlass data, longs accounted for $845 million and shorts for around $235 million of the total liquidations. Bitcoin saw almost $500 million liquidated, while Ether saw around $300 million. XRP and DOGE also recorded significant losses.
The market correction is driven by a combination of factors, including the latest inflation report, which showed a 4.1% year-over-year increase in the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) index - a three-year high. This has led to growing uncertainty and changing investor sentiment, causing investors to move away from riskier assets.
