Bitcoin Faces Quantum Conundrum as Nic Carter Warns of Divergence from Ethereum
Nic Carter, a prominent figure in the crypto space, has highlighted the importance of addressing the threat of quantum computers to blockchain security.
Carter pointed out that Bitcoin's current approach to cryptography is nearing obsolescence and will require significant changes to remain secure. This shift is likely to be driven by the increasing power of quantum computers, which could potentially compromise even the most advanced encryption methods currently in use.
The Ethereum Foundation has already taken steps to address this issue, launching a Post-Quantum Ethereum hub and outlining a 2029 roadmap for implementing post-quantum cryptography. In contrast, Bitcoin Core developers have been slower to engage with quantum-related proposals, leading Carter to urge them to accelerate their efforts.
