UK Money Laundering Case Draws Over 11,000 Chinese Victims
A major money laundering case in the UK has sparked a significant response from Chinese victims, with over 11,300 individuals planning to submit cross-border claims.
The case involves 60,000 bitcoins frozen by the UK authorities, which were allegedly laundered through the purchase of a luxury house. The main culprit, Qian Zhimin, was sentenced to 11 years and 8 months in prison.
According to Section 281 of the UK Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA), victims can recover assets by submitting evidence and registering with the UK High Court. The registration deadline for recovering the frozen bitcoins is May 22.
