EU Hits Over 100 Crypto Platforms with New Russia Sanctions

The European Union has approved its 21st sanctions package against Russia in four years, targeting more than 100 banks and crypto operators.

The new package includes full sanctions on 94 Russian financial institutions, including the Moscow Exchange, as well as a ban on transactions involving over 100 banks and crypto operators accused of helping Russia avoid earlier sanctions.

EU Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas said the sanctions aim to 'cut off the financial lifelines' relied upon by Putin's war effort.

The package also freezes assets of more than 50 military industrial companies, including those involved in producing Russia's long-range combat drones.
