Lummis Calls on Lawmakers to Pass Clarity Act and Shape US Crypto Finance

Senator Cynthia Lummis is pushing for lawmakers to advance the CLARITY Act, a bill aimed at setting clearer rules for digital asset markets in the United States. The bill has already passed the House and cleared the Senate Banking Committee but still needs a full Senate vote.

The CLARITY Act would lay out how digital assets should be treated under U.S. law, reducing the long-running dispute between regulators over which agency should oversee crypto trading activity.

The bill would split oversight between the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), with the SEC keeping control of investment contract assets and the CFTC taking a larger role in digital commodity spot markets.
