Poland Parliament Fails to Override Presidential Veto on Crypto Regulation Bill
Poland's parliament has failed to overturn the presidential veto on a key crypto regulation bill, marking the second unsuccessful attempt. The bill aims to align Poland with EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) framework, which was introduced in 2024 to govern the issuance and custody of crypto assets.
The MiCA framework is designed to provide a harmonized approach to regulating crypto assets across EU member states. However, President Karol Nawrocki has expressed concerns over excessive regulation and potential burden on small businesses, citing limited transparency as one of his main concerns.
Despite the failure, lawmakers reintroduced an 'improved' version of the bill in December last year, claiming that it addressed some of the president's concerns. However, critics argue that the new draft is virtually unchanged from the original.
