Ethereum Foundation Unveils Ambitious Long-Term Roadmap for Network Upgrades
The Ethereum Foundation has released a comprehensive roadmap for upgrading the network over the next decade. The document, known as Strawmap, outlines ambitious plans to improve scalability, security, and usability of the Ethereum blockchain.
One of the key goals outlined in the roadmap is to reduce transaction finality time on Ethereum's main chain from 16 minutes to just 2 seconds. This will be achieved through the introduction of a new consensus algorithm called Minimmit, which will allow for faster block creation and validation.
The foundation also plans to introduce quantum-resistant cryptography by 2029, as well as expand throughput on layer-2 networks such as Arbitrum and Optimism to 10 million transactions per second. Additionally, shielded transfers will be introduced to increase privacy on the network.
