A significant event has occurred in the Bitcoin market with a dormant wallet becoming active after 14 years. The wallet, which was previously inactive since June 2011, recently moved $16 million worth of coins through a single transaction.
The wallet's history dates back to April and June 2009, when it accumulated its holdings through mining. According to blockchain explorer Mempool Space data, the wallet initially held 7,850 tokens, with the current balance displaying 3,850 Bitcoin after the recent movement.
This is not an isolated incident, as other early whales have also been systematically selling their tokens in a calculated manner. In fact, this trend has been observed since 2017, with whales controlling more than 10,000 Bitcoin steadily distributing their holdings.
