Opensea Delays SEA Token Launch Amid Weak Crypto Market Conditions
Opensea, a leading marketplace for non-fungible tokens (NFTs), has announced a delay in the launch of its highly-anticipated SEA token. The decision was made due to weak crypto market conditions, which Opensea's CEO Devin Finzer believes would not have allowed for a successful debut.
To soften the blow, Opensea is offering fee refunds to users who participated in rewards waves 3 through 6. These users can request refunds for the platform fees retained by Opensea during that period, but doing so will result in the removal of Treasures earned during those waves from their accounts.
In addition, Opensea is reducing its own token trading fees to zero for a limited time, starting March 31. This move aims to make it easier for users to try out the platform's new features, including cross-chain token trading and perpetuals.
