Young Crypto Thief Sentenced to Prison in $250M Scheme

A young man has been sentenced to prison for his involvement in a massive cryptocurrency theft scheme that targeted victims across the US. Marlon Ferro, also known as 'GothFerrari,' was found guilty of conspiracy to participate in a racketeering enterprise and ordered to pay $2.5 million in restitution.

Prosecutors said Ferro's operation involved database hacks, fraudulent phone calls, money laundering, and residential burglaries that targeted individuals believed to hold large amounts of cryptocurrency. When online scams failed to access victims' funds, Ferro would break into their homes to steal hardware wallets containing valuable digital assets.

Ferro's sentence includes 78 months in prison and three years of supervised release. The court also ordered him to pay $2.5 million in restitution. This case highlights the growing concern over 'wrench attacks,' where victims are threatened into handing over access to their digital assets.
