Rep Biggs Invests in Bitcoin through BlackRock's Spot ETF
Rep. Sheri Biggs (R-SC) has made headlines with her latest investment in Bitcoin, purchasing up to $250,000 worth of BlackRock's spot Bitcoin ETF (IBIT).
This is not the first time Biggs has invested in digital assets; she also purchased shares in a private credit fund offered by asset manager Apollo at around the same time.
Biggs' investment comes as part of a trend among US lawmakers to invest in digital assets. According to reports, former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) was the last politician to disclose a purchase of BlackRock's spot Bitcoin ETF last November, with her investment valued between $1,000 and $15,000.
Biggs has been recognized as a supporter of cryptocurrency by the Stand With Crypto Alliance, a grassroots advocacy group launched by Coinbase. The representative has voted in favor of three pro-crypto bills: the CLARITY Act, the GENIUS Act, and H.J. Res 25.
