Collins' Long-Lost Bitcoins Roar Back to Life
Bitcoin addresses linked to Irish drug trafficker Clifton Collins have been inactive for almost a decade, but they're now coming back to life. According to data from blockchain tracking platform Arkham, an address associated with the Irish police transferred 500 BTC to Coinbase Prime in April. The transfer was valued at around $30 million at the time.
This was not the first time Collins' Bitcoins had moved; a similar transaction occurred in May. However, it's the latest development that has sparked attention in the crypto community. Collins purchased approximately $30,000 worth of Bitcoin between 2011 and 2012, assets that have grown to be worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
The movement of these Bitcoins was initially thought to be 'permanently lost' due to Collins claiming he had lost his private keys. However, it appears the issue was resolved, allowing the transfer to take place.
