US House Committee Prepares for Crypto Tax Reform Hearing
The US House of Representatives is set to discuss a key aspect of cryptocurrency regulation, moving its focus from creating a regulatory framework for the market to addressing tax reform. On Tuesday, the House's Ways and Means Committee will hold a hearing on comprehensive changes to the taxation of digital assets.
Experts from leading companies such as Fidelity, Coinbase, and Coin Center will share their views at the hearing, along with academics from New York University. The committee will review seven separate draft regulations aimed at reshaping how digital assets are taxed in the U.S., covering topics such as stablecoin transactions, mining revenue, crypto lending activities, wash sale regulations, crypto donations, and taxpayer reporting obligations.
The approach of breaking down the comprehensive Digital Asset PARITY Act into smaller legislative proposals has been positively received by some industry advocacy organizations. They argue that this will allow lawmakers to carefully consider the details of each issue and reduce the risk of rushing through comprehensive regulation.
