US Government Transfers Seized Bitcoins as Part of Hack Resolution

A US government agency has made a significant transfer of bitcoins to Coinbase Prime, but the move is not expected to have any major implications on the cryptocurrency market.

The agency transferred 8.2 bitcoins, valued at around $606,000, as part of the ongoing resolution process following the 2016 Bitfinex hack.

This development comes after a federal court approved a decision in January 2025 to return approximately 94,643 BTC to Bitfinex through compensation agreements. The court designated Bitfinex as the sole eligible claimant for restitution.
