Ethereum Foundation's $47 Million ETH Sale Continues Amid Ongoing Staking Strategy
The Ethereum Foundation has continued its trend of selling Ether (ETH) to Tom Lee's Bitmine Immersion Technologies, with a recent deal valued at $23 million.
According to an announcement made by the Ethereum Foundation, this latest transaction brings the total amount of ETH sold to Bitmine in the past week to approximately $47 million. The funds will be used for 'core operations and activities', including protocol research and development, ecosystem growth, and community grant funding.
In related news, Bitmine has also begun staking more Ether, with a recent increase of 162,088 coins bringing its total staked holdings to over 4.1 million (83% of its cumulative assets). This move is part of an ongoing strategy by the company to earn yield from its ETH holdings.
The Ethereum Foundation's decision to sell ETH has been met with some scrutiny in the past, but it claims that the funds will be used to support core operations and activities. The foundation has also started staking a portion of its own ETH holdings and investing in decentralized finance (DeFi) projects.
