Upbit Denies Participation in Open USD Stablecoin Initiative

South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Upbit has denied participating in the Open USD stablecoin initiative despite being listed as one of its partners. In a statement, Upbit clarified that it had only expressed interest in potentially joining the Open Standard ecosystem if it expands in the future.

The clarification comes after several other South Korean companies, including Samsung, Shinhan, and K-Bank, also distanced themselves from Open Standard's announcement. These companies stated that they had not formally agreed to join the stablecoin initiative and were still reviewing the proposal.

Open Standard listed over 140 organizations as participating businesses in its initial announcement, including Visa, Mastercard, BlackRock, Google, Samsung Electronics, and Dunamu. However, it appears that many of these companies have yet to commit to the project, with some stating that discussions are still preliminary.
