Trump Re-establishes Science Advisory Council with Tech Sector Heavyweights
The White House has taken a significant step in shaping its approach to emerging technologies by re-establishing its Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST). The council, which was revived through an executive order in January 2025, will provide guidance to President Trump on key issues related to science, technology, education, and innovation policy.
The 13 newly appointed members bring a diverse range of expertise from various tech sectors, including AI, blockchain, social media, and semiconductors. Notable figures such as Meta's Mark Zuckerberg, Coinbase co-founder Fred Ehrsam, and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang will be part of the council.
The council's leadership will be co-chaired by White House AI and crypto czar David Sacks and Trump's science adviser Michael Kratsios. This pairing reflects a commitment to integrating perspectives from both AI development and crypto policy circles, while also emphasizing governance and regulatory clarity.
