Tether Freezes $344 Million on Tron Amid Increasing Compliance Actions
Tether, the leading stablecoin issuer, has taken swift action to freeze two large wallets on the Tron network, holding a combined total of $344 million in USDT. This move marks one of the fastest enforcement operations ever seen on the Tron blockchain.
The frozen assets are equivalent to 1.8% of all Tron-based USDT in circulation per day, and represent a significant portion of the network's overall stablecoin supply. Tether has confirmed that it worked in coordination with the US Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and US law enforcement agencies to carry out the freeze.
This is not an isolated incident; Tether has been increasing its compliance efforts, having frozen over $300 million in assets within a year through its collaborative effort with TRON and TRM Labs. The latest freeze follows a larger one in January, where Tether froze around $182-339 million held across different Tron wallets.
