Justin Sun Seeks Deal After $292M DeFi Hack
A recent hack has exposed vulnerabilities in the cross-chain bridge security of major DeFi protocols. The incident occurred when a hacker exploited a flaw in a LayerZero-powered bridge used by Kelp DAO, allowing them to release unbacked tokens.
According to reports, the attacker drained 116,500 rsETH from the bridge and used it as collateral on Aave to borrow assets, leaving over $236 million in bad debt. The breach has left Aave with a significant financial burden, prompting founder Stani Kulechov to confirm that the exploit originated outside of the protocol's contracts.
Justin Sun, a prominent figure in the cryptocurrency space, has called on the hacker to negotiate the return of funds. In a statement, Sun urged the hacker to 'let's just talk' and offered to discuss a potential deal. The move is seen as an attempt to mitigate further damage to the affected protocols.
