Bitcoin Breakout to $80,000 Predicted by Kraken Expert
A recent surge in Bitcoin's price has sparked renewed optimism among investors, with a leading expert predicting that the cryptocurrency could break through the $80,000 barrier.
According to Matt Howells-Barby, vice-president of growth at Kraken, the path higher for Bitcoin depends on two key factors: how the Middle East conflict evolves and whether US corporate earnings hold up.
If earnings come in strong and there are signs that the geopolitical situation is cooling, Howells-Barby expects Bitcoin to push hard toward $80,000. The expert noted that a surge to this level would mark a significant shift in the narrative around Bitcoin, which has been trading at 40% below its October peak of $126,000.
The sell-off in Bitcoin has been driven by a combination of macroeconomic uncertainty and big investors selling their assets in expectation of the cryptocurrency losing value as part of a historical four-year cycle. However, recent data suggests that this trend may be slowing down, with Bitcoin exchange-traded funds seeing steady inflows of over $2.3 billion since March.
Howells-Barby's prediction comes as Bitcoin's price is floating near $75,000 after rallying 12% over the past two weeks amid broader market exuberance. The top cryptocurrency has underperformed other assets like high-flying stocks and gold, but experts argue that this may be about to change.
