Ripple Joins Singapore Central Bank Initiative on Programmable Settlement
Ripple has announced its participation in the BLOOM initiative, a program launched by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) to expand settlement capabilities using tokenized bank liabilities and regulated stablecoins.
The pilot project will be conducted in collaboration with Unloq, a supply chain finance technology provider, and will use RLUSD, a digital settlement asset developed by Ripple. The goal is to test programmable settlement in cross-border trade, which can help reduce the operational lag and settlement uncertainty associated with traditional payment methods.
The BLOOM initiative aims to create a testing ground for interoperable payment rails in regulated financial environments, positioning Singapore as a leader in this space. Ripple's participation marks another significant step towards integrating blockchain technology into existing financial systems.
