Kraken Expands US Regulated Perpetual Futures Offerings
Kraken has announced plans to launch CFTC-regulated Bitcoin perpetual futures in the US, marking a significant step towards bringing offshore derivatives trading onshore. According to the exchange, it expects to launch the product within 30 days after receiving approval from the regulator.
The move follows regulatory momentum in the US, with KalshiEX's BTC perpetual futures contract already approved by the CFTC. Coinbase is also pushing to provide regulated access to US institutions through its acquisition of Deribit, a leading crypto options exchange.
The shift towards onshore derivatives trading is expected to offer greater regulatory clarity and protections for institutional users. With the CFTC's approval, Kraken can now leverage Bitnomial Exchange as a listing venue for its perpetual futures product.
