Meta Introduces Cryptocurrency Payments for Content Creators

Meta has begun distributing cryptocurrency-based payments to a selected group of content creators operating in Colombia and the Philippines as part of its latest initiative.

The social media giant is utilizing Circle’s USDC stablecoin, which is distributed through Solana and Polygon blockchain networks, for the compensation program. Payment processing is handled through Stripe's infrastructure, providing necessary tax documentation to recipients.

While the payments are made in USDC, creators must use third-party cryptocurrency exchanges to convert the digital currency into traditional fiat currency. Meta has stated that it will maintain control over the compensation process and may switch to alternative payment methods if technical complications arise.
