Aave Weighs Major Contribution to DeFi Recovery Effort
A proposal has been made for Aave to contribute 25,000 ETH to DeFi United in an effort to repair the shortfall caused by the recent Kelp DAO exploit. The contribution would target the remaining rsETH hole left by the attacker's actions, which used a compromised LayerZero bridge to mint unbacked rsETH and then use it as collateral on Aave.
The proposal is significant because it shows that major protocols are taking a proactive approach to addressing the fallout from the exploit. The contribution would not be a general donation or symbolic gesture of support, but rather a direct attempt to plug the gap left by the attacker's actions.
