Shiba Inu's FHE Integration: A Step Towards Improved Privacy

Shiba Inu's development team has announced plans to integrate fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) technology into Shibarium, its Layer 2 network. The integration of Zama's FHE technology is scheduled to take place in Q2 2026 and will enable confidential smart contracts on the network.

This upgrade aims to address security weaknesses exposed in a recent attack, which highlighted the need for improved privacy features on the network. However, with declining user activity and a shrinking user base, it remains unclear whether this upgrade will have any impact on the network's utility.
