A recent phishing campaign has highlighted the growing threat of fake Google advertisements targeting crypto users. According to reports, the attackers used sponsored ads to impersonate Uniswap, a popular decentralized exchange protocol, and tricked users into visiting cloned websites.
The scam relied on paid Google advertisements that closely resembled official Uniswap links. Once users clicked the sponsored result, they were redirected to fake websites designed to look nearly identical to the real platform.
Security experts warn that these scams are becoming increasingly sophisticated and common across crypto platforms. Decentralized finance analytics platform DeFiLlama described fake Google ads as one of the most common sources of phishing attacks in crypto.
