Kraken's Parent Firm Secures Rare US Derivatives Licenses

Kraken's parent firm, Payward, has made a major milestone in its expansion plans by completing the acquisition of Bitnomial. The deal gives Payward control over three key registrations under the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), including a Futures Commission Merchant, a Designated Contract Market, and a Derivatives Clearing Organisation.

These approvals allow a single entity to operate an exchange, clear trades, and offer brokerage services within a regulated framework. This is a rare achievement in the crypto space, with Bitnomial spending over a decade securing these permissions.
