Crypto-Backed PAC Spending Shapes Alabama Senate Election
Crypto-backed PAC spending continues to influence US Senate elections, as Barry Moore won the Alabama Republican runoff on Tuesday. The Defend American Jobs PAC, affiliated with cryptocurrency company Fairshake, spent over $12 million on media buys and ads to support Moore's candidacy.
Moore secured 55.8% of the vote, defeating Hudson with 44.2%. He will now face Democrat Everett Wess in the general election.
Fairshake spokesperson Geoff Vetter stated that this was their 'biggest spend of the cycle,' and they have a war chest of nearly $193 million. This investment may be part of a larger effort to build the largest pro-crypto caucus in history, as reported by Stand With Crypto, which has Moore listed as a 'strongly supports crypto' candidate.
Moore's victory marks another instance where industry PACs have spent millions on media buys for candidates facing primaries across several US states. The Alabama runoff is part of a larger trend that will continue until the November general election.
