LayerZero Upgrades Interoperability Setup Amid Security Concerns

LayerZero, a leading provider of interoperability services for decentralized finance (DeFi) applications, has announced that it will be upgrading its default setup to a 5/5 DVN configuration. This move comes in the wake of a critical design mistake that led to the Kelp DAO hack, which was linked to the Lazarus Group.

The incident highlighted a weakness in LayerZero's 1/1 DVN setup for high-value transactions, leading to a loss of trust in cross-chain security. In response, LayerZero is upgrading its default configuration to improve security and prevent similar incidents in the future.

This move is part of a broader effort to enhance DeFi protocols' security architecture. Some protocols, such as Tydro and Solv, have already begun exploring alternative security solutions, including using Chainlink oracles.
