MAPO Token Plummets 96% After Vulnerability Exploitation

The cryptocurrency market has seen a significant security breach in the past week, with the MAPO token on the Map Protocol network being the latest victim.

A vulnerability in the Butter Network cross-chain bridge allowed an attacker to mint one quadrillion MAPO tokens, which were then sold for around $180,000 worth of ETH. This represents a 96% loss in value for the token.

The Map Protocol team has confirmed that the error occurred at the Solidity smart contract layer and has suspended mainnet operations while an investigation is conducted.

As part of their response, the project representatives have announced plans to release a new contract address and take a snapshot of asset states. Tokens remaining in the attacker's controlled addresses will be deemed invalid and will not be migrated to the new system.
