Q2 2026 Sees Record-Breaking 70 Crypto Hacks Drain $746 Million

The second quarter of 2026 has become the most-hacked quarter on record for cryptocurrency, according to Defillama. A total of about 70 separate exploits have drained approximately $746 million from various protocols.

This marks a significant increase in hacking incidents compared to previous records, with nearly double the number of hacks in Q2 2026 than in any other quarter. The sheer volume of attacks has led Defillama analysts to note that 'Rather than a few giga exploits, it’s been a constant stream of smaller attacks.'

The majority of these hacks occurred in April, with about 30 incidents and over $625 million lost. Two breaches dominated this month: Drift Protocol's $285 million losses on April 1 and KelpDAO's $293 hack on April 18.
