US Celebrates 250th Birthday Without Crypto Clarity Act

The US is celebrating its 250th birthday without clarity on crypto regulations. The CLARITY Act, which aims to provide clear federal rules for digital assets, has been pending in the Senate since May 2026.

The bill cleared the House with a strong bipartisan vote (294-134) in July 2025 and passed the Senate Banking Committee in May 2026. However, it remains unsigned by the White House, which had set its sights on delivering clear regulations on July 4 as a 'birthday present' for the nation.

Sensor Cynthia Lummis has been a driving force behind the bill, stating that America should lead the way in digital assets and not hand over the lead to someone else. The National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) has endorsed the Clarity Act, becoming the first major law enforcement organization to publicly support it.

The Senate will return on July 13, and analysts now view late July or August as a more realistic window for a floor vote. Passage could provide the regulatory certainty needed to attract institutional capital and position the US as a global leader in crypto.
