Foundry Lets Miners Weigh in on BIP-110 Spam Reduction Proposal

Bitcoin mining giant Foundry Digital has given its clients a say in how to signal on BIP-110, a proposal aimed at reducing spam on the blockchain. The Rochester, New York-based firm sent an email to miners stating that they can vote by using their hashrate, or computing power, to decide whether to support the proposal.

The voting process will run from July 6 to July 15, with each account's average 10-day hashrate determining its weight in the decision. Foundry said it will signal based on the majority of hashrate-weighted votes across the signaling period, which is expected to conclude early August at block 961,632.

The company currently opposes the proposal, but will switch its position if 'Yes' votes cross 51% of voting hashrate. Foundry controls about a third of network hashrate, making its stance consequential for the outcome.
