OKX Implements Scam Prevention Measures Through Chainalysis Partnership
Crypto exchanges are increasingly adopting proactive measures to prevent user losses due to scams. In response to this trend, OKX has partnered with blockchain analytics company Chainalysis to integrate Alterya, a fraud-detection platform designed to identify scam-related payment destinations before funds are sent.
The partnership marks a shift towards earlier intervention in cases where users are persuaded to transfer funds to scam-controlled accounts. Unlike traditional anti-money laundering (AML) tools that focus on the sender through Know Your Customer (KYC) checks and transaction monitoring, Alterya concentrates on the recipient side, identifying wallets and accounts tied to scam networks or money mule operations.
The integration of Alterya into OKX's withdrawal flows enables the exchange to flag or block transfers associated with active scams. This development is part of a broader effort by exchanges to adopt prevention tools in response to rising scam-related losses.
