Dorsey's Block Unveils Buzz, Decentralized Collaboration Platform

Block, the company founded by Jack Dorsey, has launched Buzz, an open-source group chat and collaboration platform. The platform is designed to allow employees and AI agents to work together in a single workspace. According to Dorsey, Buzz was built to reduce Block's dependence on Slack and GitHub.

Buzz combines channels, threads, direct messages, voice, media sharing, code repositories, and automated workflows. Its interface resembles existing workplace communication platforms, but AI agents participate as independent members rather than bots that only respond to commands.

Each human and agent receives a cryptographic identity with its own permissions and activity history. Agents can post messages, review code, run approved workflows, and contribute to projects alongside employees. The platform is built on Nostr, a decentralized communication protocol where activity is recorded as signed events.
