12 Bengaluru Men Pose as Cryptocurrency Traders to Rob Cafe Owner of Rs 17 Lakh
A Bengaluru resident was robbed of Rs 17.64 lakh by twelve individuals who claimed to be involved in cryptocurrency trading.
The victim had been researching online for kitchen tiles and equipment to open a cafe when he joined a WhatsApp group related to USDT cryptocurrency trading.
A member of the group befriended him and exchanged Rs 2.50 lakh into USDT cryptocurrency on June 8, after which the victim requested the exchange of Rs 17.64 lakh the next day.
The accused instructed the victim to meet them at Kalpana Chawla Road in Sanjaynagar that night, where he was assaulted and robbed of his money.
Police arrested twelve individuals who had been using cryptocurrency as a ruse to rob people. They recovered Rs 13.90 lakh in cash, six two-wheelers, a car, and 13 mobile phones during their arrest.
