Hyperliquid Surges 10% on Strong Buyback and ETF Inflows
Hyperliquid (HYPE) has experienced a significant price increase of nearly 10% to levels above $63, driven by its $1.16 billion buyback program. This move has propelled the token's market capitalization above $15 billion and pushed it into the top 11 global rankings, surpassing most major cryptocurrencies in the past week.
The protocol's buyback mechanism, facilitated through its Assistance Fund, has been a key catalyst for HYPE's rally. The fund absorbs trading fee revenue from perpetual and spot transactions, using it to purchase HYPE on the open market. This strategy has successfully absorbed sell pressure during previous unlocks and has contributed to the token's recent price growth.
ETF inflows have also played a role in HYPE's surge, with 21Shares' THYP and Bitwise's BHYP reporting cumulative inflows of approximately $53 million since their May launches. Additionally, growing institutional demand for HYPE exposure is contributing to its rising popularity.
