EU Hits Russia with Sweeping Sanctions on Digital Ruble Transactions
The European Union has taken a major step in enforcing its sanctions against Russia by imposing restrictions on transactions involving the digital ruble and related infrastructure. The new measures aim to prevent Moscow from using cryptocurrencies and stablecoins to circumvent financial restrictions and international settlements.
The EU's decision targets not only individual crypto services but the entire Russian digital settlement sector, marking a significant escalation of its efforts to enforce sanctions against Russia. According to analysts at Elliptic and TRM Labs, this is the first time the EU has taken such a comprehensive approach to targeting the Russian cryptocurrency industry.
