Bitcoin Price Soars After Trump Announces Iran Peace Agreement
The cryptocurrency market saw a significant decline in Bitcoin's price over the weekend, reaching a five-week low of $74,250 on Saturday before recovering after major geopolitical developments were announced by President Donald Trump.
According to Trump's statement via his Truth Social account, a peace agreement with Iran had reached the 'largely negotiated' stage. The agreement involves the United States, Iran, and multiple Middle Eastern nations, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain.
A key component of the announced agreement is the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which has been closed since hostilities erupted in late February. This development is expected to ease pressure on worldwide energy markets and sentiment toward risk-sensitive assets, including cryptocurrencies.
Following the announcement, digital currency markets saw a swift reaction, with the total cryptocurrency market capitalization bouncing back by approximately $75 billion. Bitcoin recovered from its low to reach the 50-day exponential moving average near $77,000 during early Sunday sessions.
