Cryptocurrency Market Slides Despite Stocks Showing Gains
The cryptocurrency market has seen a mixed performance recently, with major coins experiencing a decline in value. Bitcoin's price wobbled between $62,000 and $64,000, while trading volume dipped. Ethereum also saw a brief surge above $1,700 before pulling back to $1,660.
Despite the decline in cryptocurrency prices, some stocks related to the industry showed gains. Strategy Inc., led by Michael Saylor, reported its first Bitcoin purchase since selling 32 BTC at $77,135 last week. The company's stock rose 5.61% in response.
The global market capitalization stood at $2.16 trillion, contracting 1.07% over the last 24 hours. This decline was largely due to liquidations in long positions, with over $280 million being removed from the market. Retail and whale derivatives traders on Binance were betting on BTC's price increase, with a significantly higher proportion of long positions compared to shorts.
