Anderson County Prepares to Regulate Emerging Industries

The Anderson County Board of Commissioners will review three proposed amendments to the county's zoning resolution at their regular monthly meeting on June 15.

The amendments aim to regulate emerging industries, including cryptocurrency mining, data centers, and battery energy storage facilities, which were not present when the original zoning resolution was adopted in 1977.

The changes include requirements such as a minimum property size of eight acres, written assurances for available power and utility services, building setbacks, and maximum sound levels.
