Ethena and Janus Henderson Partner on Tokenized CLO Funds
Ethena, a synthetic dollar protocol, has recently announced a strategic partnership with Janus Henderson Investors to distribute tokenized Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO) funds. This move marks a significant shift towards real-world asset diversification for Ethena, which has previously focused on crypto derivatives and Treasuries.
The deal involves the allocation of capital from Ethena's USDe framework to Janus Henderson's JAAA tokenized fund, which mirrors their $27 billion off-chain AAA CLO ETF strategy. The JAAA tokenized fund is built on Centrifuge, a blockchain platform that Ethena has selected as its strategic tokenization partner.
In addition to the capital allocation, Janus Henderson has made a strategic investment in ENA, Ethena's governance token. They have also expressed interest in using USDe for their own treasury cash management. The partnership is seen as a major step in bridging the gap between traditional finance and decentralized finance.
