UNDP Forms Blockchain Advisory Group to Foster Global Cooperation on Decentralized Technology

The UNDP's Blockchain Advisory Group is a significant step towards harnessing the potential of blockchain technology to address global development challenges.

The group brings together 26 organizations from the blockchain industry, including foundations, infrastructure providers, media outlets, exchanges, and non-profit initiatives. These members will collaborate with international development experts to identify practical applications of blockchain that can strengthen public institutions, improve financial access, and support digital innovation.

The first meeting focused on financial inclusion, exploring how blockchain can make financial services more accessible and efficient, particularly in developing regions. The discussion highlighted the need for better preparation by governments and institutions for emerging technologies and addressed challenges such as disconnected payment systems and limited digital identity solutions.
