Bankman-Fried Seeks Presidential Pardon After FTX Conviction

Sam Bankman-Fried, the co-founder of FTX, has applied for a presidential pardon in connection with his conviction over the multi-billion dollar collapse of his cryptocurrency empire.

Bankman-Fried, who was sentenced to 25 years in prison in 2024 after being convicted of orchestrating a fraud at FTX that cost lenders, customers and investors $10bn (€8.6bn), submitted an application to the US Justice Department's Pardon Attorney Office requesting a 'pardon after completion of sentence'.

In a recent phone interview with Fox Business, Bankman-Fried said he 'absolutely' wanted a pardon from the White House, stating that it would be 'ultimately up to the president, not up to me.'
