France Sees Rise in Violent Crypto Crimes Amid Data Leaks
A recent trend in France has raised concerns about the safety and security of the crypto market. Kidnappings and extortion targeting wealthy cryptocurrency holders have been on the rise, with about 70% of global cryptocurrency-related wrench attacks occurring in the country.
Joe Nakamoto, a crypto analyst, cited the risk of leaks involving know-your-customer (KYC) data at centralized exchanges and service providers as a factor behind the surge in such crimes. The KYC data is crucial for anti-money laundering regulations and ensuring that transactions are legitimate.
